Words of Advice for Your First Session

Do I have to get naked?

You can undress to your comfort level. Most clients prefer to just leave their undies on, but it's your call. I leave the room while you undress and you will be under a sheet and blanket on a comfy table when I return. By the way, the table is heated in the colder months, because I adore my clients.

How do I know what kind of massage I need?

Start by taking a peek at my services and schedule accordingly. Then you and I will sit down together prior to your session to chat (I always have chocolate candy nearby...who doesn't love that?!). I'll ask you questions to find out what you're hoping to get out of the session. For some, it's purely relaxation and others desire pain relief in specific areas. Your session will be customized just for you!

Are you going to tell me about your crazy Aunt Linda during the session?

I take my talking cues from you! Some clients crave a peaceful (and silent) time of relaxation. Others like to chat while I'm working on them. This is completely up to you! (And no, I don't even have an Aunt Linda.)

Is there somewhere to put my belongings?

Yep! I've got a spot right in your session room where you can put your clothes and accessories.

Will I be face up or face down during the session?

Most often it's both. I'll let you know before your session starts how you'll begin.

Will you make me listen to Yanni or Enya during my session?

No. I stream Pandora through my iPhone and you'll usually hear quiet instrumental music mixed with sounds of nature.

What if the massage hurts?

It shouldn't! If you are feeling pain, simply tell me to lighten up the pressure or avoid the area completely. Everyone's "pressure preference" is different and I depend on your feedback to know if it is comfortable. Massage is not a "no pain, no gain" kind of therapy.

Do you take credit cards?

Absolutely & I accept them all: Visa, M/C, Discover & AmEx.

What if I'm running late?

Please try to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. One of my favorite parts of our time together is sitting down with you before the session. We'll chat about your goals for the session.

If you are late, I may need to shorten your session (no fun, right?) in order to stay on schedule. Full payment is expected regardless of session length.

What if I miss an appointment?

Eek! 24 hours' notice when canceling an appointment is ideal so I can try to fill the time slot. If you cancel without 24 hours' notice or don't show up at all (gasp!), you're responsible for the full appointment fee. That said, if you have a family emergency, are sick or there's bad weather this doesn't apply. I'm a flexible, fair person.

Any post-session advice?

Water, water, and more water! Drink 6-8 glasses in the 24 hours after your session. Water flushes toxins and hydrates your muscles. Also, avoid heavy lifting as your super-relaxed muscles might strain more easily.

What if I want to buy a session for someone else?

Good for you! Buying someone the gift of relaxation is awesome. I sell gift certificates for all occasions. Buy a gift certificate now, come to my office, or I can mail it to you!
