Stop trying to, “FIND YOUR PASSION!”
We’re fed this line of crap in our culture that we need to, “FIND OUR PASSION!”
And we all believe it!
I know I used to until I put the work into dissolving that belief and headed in a different direction.
How do you feel when someone asks you, “What’s your passion?”
I used to get a deer in the headlights look on my face, I’d stammer, freeze, I’d feel like I had to come up with something awesome and amazing, and wind up feeling like I sounded like an idiot.
It’s a really stressful question.
And the wrong one!
A much better and lighter question is, “What do you find meaningful?”
What’s interesting to you, when do you feel like you’re contributing to something greater than yourself, when do you feel like you’re in a “flow?”
Those questions will lower the stakes, they’re approachable, and much easier for your nervous system to digest and work with.
There’s no reason to freak your nervous system out with a huge question like, “WHAT’S YOUR PASSION?!”
Let’s start small and doable.
Skip the heroics of, “LET’S FIGURE OUT WHAT MY NEXT BIG THING IS!” and go at it with curiosity and compassion, because pushing, forcing, and bullying doesn’t work.
Let’s try a better way.
I can give you support, guidance, accountability, and cheerleading to help you get you where you want to go.
