Your thought bubbles

I loved reading the, “Sunday funnies,” as we called comic strips in our house!

Every time the Fargo Forum arrived on our porch steps, I’d run out so I could be the first to read them. And look at the Target and Kmart promo flyers, LOL.

Garfield was my favorite but I’d read most of them to get some good laughs to start my day before I hopped on my bike or went to a friend’s house to play Atari.

We knew what they were thinking because of the thought bubble over their head.

It would save us a lot of suffering if we had thought bubbles that were visible only to us.

This way we could see the thoughts we have about life’s neutral circumstances, which drive our feelings, which then dictate our actions and results.

When we aren’t aware of our thoughts and just living on autopilot like they’re 100% true, we go through our day and life like a pinball, reacting to all the things.

We’re reacting with our primitive brain’s fight or flight default (think fly off the handle), instead of our prefrontal cortex which will help us respond from a place of better clarity and calm.

I often have two sets of thoughts about a circumstance.

The first is the fight or flight default one. This isn’t a problem because every stimulus goes through our primitive brain first.

The important thing is to practice catching it, sit with it for a minute to move ourselves to our prefrontal cortex, and make a conscious decision as to how we want to respond.

Under my title of life coach, it could say I have a “masters degree in curiosity.”

Getting curious about our thoughts instead of believing they’re as true as the weather outside your window, is a damn superpower and I will give you a cape!

Just pick your colors and logo and I’ll send ‘em to my tailor.

We create a metric ton of suffering for ourselves when we believe every thought we have!

When I entertain and think shit like, “No one wants to read what I write, I really need to sleep a little more but should get up, people won’t believe their lives can be so much better when they focus on changing their thoughts, I should be so much further ahead than I am, or my book will never get the huge exposure I want it to get so it can help more people.”

Those blah Johnny Raincloud and Debbie Downer thoughts about neutral circumstances, will lead me to feel like crap about myself and my work, which will lead me to wallow and stay small and quiet.

And we are not meant to stay small and quiet through our one precious life! It looks different for everyone, as it should, but you get to decide!

Start writing down what’s in your thought bubbles.

Get ‘em out of your head and onto paper so you can decide if they’re serving you or not.

And if they’re not serving you, I can teach you how to intentionally and consciously tweak them so your internal and external worlds start looking like the version you really want.

Let’s put you in the driver’s seat of your life, maybe for the first time, cuz I believe THAT’S why you’re here. To create your life and have a ridiculous amount of joy and fun!

I believe in you and I’ve always got you back!

Let’s chat cuz I’m ready to be your coach.
